WALL PLAQUE AND CAP TALLY FROM THE ROYAL NAVAL VESSEL HMS JUPITER

DESCRIPTION -- Wall plaque and cap tally from the Royal Naval vessel the HMS Jupiter where the overall size of the item is 12" (30cm) x 6" (15cm) and it is in a brilliant condition (click on the picture for a closer view of the item).

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- HMS Jupiter (F60) was a Batch 3 Leander-class frigate of the Royal Navy (RN). She was, like the rest of the class, named after a figure of mythology. Built by Yarrow Shipbuilders of Scotstoun, she was launched on 4 September 1967 and commissioned on 9 August 1969.

LARGE SIZE WOODEN BARREL MADE FROM THE TIMBERS OF HMS SESAME

DESCRIPTION -- Wooden barrel which was hand made from the timbers of the naval vessel HMS Sesame and has on it a plaque which reads: "From The Teak Of HMS Sesame". It is in a very good condition and a great find.

DESCRIPTION -- Postcard sized photograph of the Royal Naval vessel the HMS Kent which is in an excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- HMS Kent was a batch-1 County-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She and her sisters were equipped with the Sea Slug Mk-1 medium-range surface-to-air missile SAM system, along with the short-range Sea Cat SAM, two twin 4.5-inch gun turrets, two single 20mm cannon, ASW torpedo tubes, and a platform and hangar that allowed her to operate one Wessex helicopter. The County class were large ships, with good seakeeping abilities and long range, and were ideal blue-water ships for their time.

DESCRIPTION -- Postcard sized photograph of the Royal Naval ship HMS Andromeda which is in an excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- HMS Andromeda was a Leander-class frigate of the Royal Navy. She was built at HM Dockyard Portsmouth, the last ship to be built there. She was launched on 24 May 1967 and commissioned into the Royal Navy on 2 December 1968. She took part in the Falklands War and was sold to India in 1995, for use as a training ship, being renamed INS Krishna. She was finally decommissioned in May 2012.

DESCRIPTION -- Postcard of the Royal Naval ship HMS Brighton which is in an excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- With the rest of her class, HMS Brighton was rebuilt between 1970 and 1972 with more modern radar and fire control, and facilities for a Wasp helicopter for long range, anti-submarine engagement. HMS Brighton was the penultimate conversion, her reconstruction was a success, but being late in the schedule, she did not receive further updating.

HISTORY -- HMS Dampier was a Bay-class anti-aircraft frigate of the British Royal Navy, named after the explorer, author and privateer, William Dampier (1652-1715). The ship was in commission from 1948 to 1968, spending her entire career based at Singapore, carrying out survey work.

HISTORY -- HMS Sidlesham was one of 93 ships of the Ham-class of inshore minesweepers. Their names were all chosen from villages ending in -ham. This minesweeper was named after Sidlesham in West Sussex.

HISTORY -- HMS Tartar was a Tribal-class destroyer of the Royal Navy that saw service in most of the naval theatres of World War II. She had an eventful career, eventually receiving the nickname 'Lucky Tartar' due to her numerous escapes from dangerous situations. She was one of only four from the sixteen Royal Navy-operated Tribal-class destroyers to survive the war.

HISTORY -- The Royal Navy (RN) is the United Kingdom's principal naval warfare force. Naval forces were first used by Alfred the Great in the 9th century, and from the early 14th century England's navy was engaged in maritime warfare. The modern Royal Navy traces its origins to the early 16th century; the oldest of the UK's armed services, it is known as the Senior Service.
