EARLY ONBOARD WHITE DAMASK WAITERS TABLE NAPKIN FROM THE ORIENT STEAMSHIP NAVIGATION COMPANY

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The Orient Steam Navigation Company, also known as the Orient Line, was a British shipping company with roots going back to the late 18th century. From the early 20th century onwards an association began with P&O that eventually culminated in the Orient Line being totally absorbed into that company in the 1960s.

ORIGINAL OLD DAMASK SHIPS NAPKIN FROM THE UNION CASTLE LINE

DESCRIPTION -- This is an item from The Union Castle Line shipping company. It is an original as used on board waiters damask serving napkin. It has the company name and belt logo shown in the centre of the napkin and the company houseflag. The size is 18" (45cm) square and it is in an great condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The Union-Castle Line was a prominent British shipping line that operated a fleet of passenger liners and cargo ships between Europe and Africa from 1900 to 1977. It was formed from the merger of the Union Line and Castle Shipping Line. It merged with Bullard King and Clan Line in 1956 to form British & Commonwealth Shipping, and then with South African Marine Corporation in 1973 to create International Liner Services, but maintained its separate identity throughout. Its shipping operations ceased in 1977.

OLD DAMASK SHIPS NAPKIN FROM THE JAMAICA DIRECT FRUIT LINE

DESCRIPTION -- From the Jamaica Direct Fruit Line shipping company this is an original as used on board ships damask napkin. The napkin has the company name and belt logo shown in the centre of it and also the company houseflag. The size of the napkin is 21" (54cm) square and it is in a great condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The Jamaica Direct Fruit Line company was formed in 1929 to carry passengers and general cargo to Jamaica and bananas to Europe. In 1962 with the independence of Jamaica, the fleet transferred to the Jamaican flag. Taken over by the Jamaican Government in 1977, the company continued to operate until 1980 when they disappeared as an independent ship owning concern.

WHITE UNUSED TOWEL FROM THE SCANDINAVIAN SEAWAYS

DESCRIPTION -- Original early piece from the Scandinavian Seaways which is a very nice First Class ship's cabin Towel, as used on board vessel. It is in a very good condition and shows across it the complete company name. These items are scarce to find, especially in such very good condition and the size is 1'9" x 3'9" (53cm x 114cm).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- DFDS is a Danish shipping company. It is one of the world's largest ferry operators. The companies name is an acronym of Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab (literally The United Steamship Company. Although DFDS has generally concentrated on freight and passenger traffic on the North Sea (and to a lesser extent the Baltic Sea), it has operated freight services to the Americas and the Mediterranean in the past, as well as a ferry service in the Mediterranean between 1971 and 1981, a ferry service from New York to Freeport and Miami - Freeport in the early 1980s under the name Scandinavian World Cruises (which later became Sea Escape).
