UNUSUAL FIND OF A CRIB BOARD USED BY HMT SOMERSETSHIRE AND USED DURING THE 1930's AND 1940's

DESCRIPTION -- Very unusual item which is an as used onboard crib board from the vessel HMT Somersetshire which is quite old and in a good condition for an old item.  It was presented by RMS A Blythen Royal Artillery in 1938 and there is an incription in the centre of the crib board. It has a top of brass and a bakerlite base.

CONDITION -- Good

HISTORY -- The Somersertshire was launched in 1927 for the Bibby Line and became a Troopship in 1927.  During the second world war the vessel served as a hospital ship and was saly scrapped in 1957.

EVER SO RARE FIND OF A SHELL CASE SHIPS BRIDGE ASHTRAY FROM THE BIBBY LINE

DESCRIPTION -- Very rare find from the Bibby Line which is a very heavy ships bridge ashtray made from a shell case.  This made in wartime period item was used on board ship and is a scarce item to find and shows on the front the name of the company and is in a very good condition, with the size being 3½" (11cm) wide.  Unlikely to find another one like this.

ORIGINAL SOUVENIR SALT POT FROM THE BIBBY LINE VESSEL THE SS GLOUCESTERSHIRE

DESCRIPTION -- From the 1930's this is a salt pot souvenir from the Bibby Line vessel the SS Gloucestershire.  It shows on the front the name and company flag and is in a very good condition, with the size being 2" (8cm) high (click on the picture for a close up of the item).

BREAKFAST CEREAL BOWL FROM THE BIBBY LINE

DESCRIPTION -- From the Bibby Line this is an as used on board breakfast cereal bowl with the size as 6" (16cm) wide and produced in the traditional shipping line design colours. It shows on it the company emblem and is circa 1940's and in an excellent condition.

SOUVENIR OAK SPOON STAND FROM THE SS LEICESTERSHIRE 1948

DESCRIPTION -- Wooden oak 'spoon stand' showing nice brass 'wheel spokes' at the top which is from the vessel the SS Leicestershire of the Bibby Line and was built in 1948. From the picture provided you will notice the delicate houseflag at the top of the item, which is in full colour and also reads 'SS Leicestershire' and the size of the stand is approx. 6" x 6" (15cm x 15cm).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- SS Heraklion was built as the SS Leicestershire by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company in Glasgow in 1949, for the Bibby Line to operate the UK to Burma route. She was chartered to the British India Line for some time to supplement its London to East Africa service. In 1964 she was sold to the Aegean Steam Navigation Co to operate under their Typaldos Line, renamed SS Heraklion. Once Typaldos Line took ownership, she was refitted as a passenger/car ferry.
