DINNER BOWL FROM THE INTERNATIONAL MERCANTILE MARINE SHIPPING COMPANY AND DATED EARLY 1900’s

DESCRIPTION -- Ever so rare to find this item is dated early 1900’s and is a china dinner bowl from the International Mercantile Marine Shipping Company part of the White Star Line.  It shows around the edge the company pattern and in the centre the company crest.  The size is 9½" (24cm) wide and is in a good condition and an item hardly ever located these days.

HISTORY
-- The International Mercantile Marine Co., originally the International Navigation Company, was a trust formed in the early twentieth century as an attempt by J.P. Morgan to monopolize the shipping trade. The result was heavy losses for Morgan.

SUPERB 1960’s CHINA TANKARD FROM THE NORTH GERMAN LLOYD SHIPPING COMPANY

DESCRIPTION -- Superb item and is a china tankard from the Norddeutscher Lloyd (North German Lloyd shipping company). It shows on the front the company crest and is in an excellent condition and dates from the 1960’s with the size being 5" (13cm) high (click on the picture to see a close up of the design on the front).

HISTORY
-- Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) (North German Lloyd) was a German shipping company. It was founded by Hermann Henrich Meier and Eduard Crüsemann in Bremen on 20 February 1857. It developed into one of the most important German shipping companies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was instrumental in the economic development of Bremen and Bremerhaven. On 1 September 1970, the company merged with Hamburg America Line (HAPAG) to form Hapag-Lloyd AG.
