DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir spoon from the Holland America Line shipping company and the vessel the Boschfontein. It is 4" (12cm) long and is in a very good condition and shows the name and picture of the vessel at the top of the spoon (click on the picture to see a closer view)

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The Holland America Line is a holiday cruise line based in Seattle. It has been owned by Carnival since 1989. From 1873 to 1989, it was a Dutch shipping line, a passenger line, a cargo line and a cruise line operating primarily between the Netherlands and North America. As part of this rich legacy, it was instrumental in the transport of many hundreds of thousands of immigrants from the Netherlands to North America.

DESCRIPTION -- From the vessel the Prinses Beatrix of the Nederland Line this is a souvenir egg spoon which is in an excellent condition and shows at the top a cutout of the vessel (click on the picture to see a closer view of the top of the spoon).

CONDITION -- Good
HISTORY -- The Prinses Beatrix was built in 1978 by Verolme Shipyard, in Heusden, The Netherlands and worked for Stoomvaart Maatschappij Zeeland on their joint Sealink route between Hoek van Holland and Harwich, Parkeston Quay. She was named and launched by H.R.H. Princess Beatrix on 14 January 1978. Brittany Ferries bought the ferry on 1 October 1985, and after chartering it for a year back to SMZ, renamed it Duc de Normandie, operating between Portsmouth and Ouistreham from 5 June 1986.

DESCRIPTION -- Souvenir tea spoon from the Australian Oriental Line shipping company and the size of the item is 5" (13cm) and it is in a great condition (click on the picture to see the company emblem engraved on the item).

CONDITION -- Excellent
HISTORY -- The Australian Oriental Line was a shipping company that operated between Sydney and Hong Kong. It was formed in 1912 by G.S. Yuill & Company. The company closed in 1961 due to the high costs of acquiring new vessels or refitting the existing fleet.

HISTORY -- The Queen Elizabeth 2, often referred to simply as the QE2, is an ocean liner that was operated by Cunard from 1969 to 2008. Following her retirement from cruising, she is now owned by Istithmar (the investment company of Dubai World). She was designed primarily to run a transatlantic service from her home port of Southampton, England, to New York, USA, and was named after the earlier Cunard liner RMS Queen Elizabeth (see Name section). She served as the flagship of the line from 1969 until succeeded by RMS Queen Mary 2 in 2004.

HISTORY -- RMS Queen Elizabeth 2, often referred to simply as the 'QE2', is a former Cunard ocean liner, now owned by Nakheel, a division of Dubai World. She was named after the earlier Cunard liner RMS Queen Elizabeth (see Name section), and served as the flagship of the line from 1969 until succeeded by RMS Queen Mary 2 in 2004. Built in Clydebank, Scotland, she was considered the last of the great transatlantic ocean liners built for over four decades before the construction of the QM2.

HISTORY -- The Greek Line formally known as the General Steam Navigation Company of Greece was a passenger ship line that operated from 1939 until 1975. The Greek Line was owned by the Ormos Shipping Company. The line operated transatlantic and short to long distance voyages. The company later began operating leisure cruises as the jet age replaced passenger ships as the means of transportation across the Atlantic Ocean. Except for one ship, all of the other ships that the Greek Line operated were second-hand purchases.

DESCRIPTION -- Silver spoon souvenir from the old vessel the SS Athenia which is in a great condition and shows the crest in full colour at the top. It is a very rare item to find due to the sad loss of the ship at the start of WWII and the size of the spoon is 4" (10cm) in length.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The SS Athenia was the first British ship to be sunk by Nazi Germany in World War II. Athenia was built by the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Ltd., and was launched at Govan, Scotland in 1923. She was built for Anchor-Donaldson Ltd.'s route between Britain and Canada. SS Athenia, under Captain James Cook, departed Glasgow for Montreal on 1 September 1939, via Liverpool and Belfast, carrying 1,103 civilians, including more than 300 Americans, and 315 crew. She left Liverpool at 13:00 on 2 September, and on the evening of 3 September was 60 mi (97 km) south of Rockall (250 miles/400 km northwest of Inishtrahull, Ireland), when she was sighted by the German U-boat U-30 and sunk

DESCRIPTION -- A silver-plated spoon souvenir from the most famous of Cunard Line vessels the RMS Queen Mary. It is an item from our Maritime Spoon collection and it is in a very good condition.

HISTORY -- RMS Queen Mary is a retired ocean liner that sailed the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for the Cunard Line (then Cunard-White Star when the vessel entered service). Built by John Brown and Company, Clydebank, Scotland, she was designed to be the first of Cunard's planned two-ship weekly express service from Southampton to Cherbourg to New York, in answer to the mainland European super liners of the late 1920's and early 1930's.

DESCRIPTION -- Very rare item from the liner Euripides from the Aberdeen Line shipping company which is a silver-plated spoon showing at the top a superb view of the liner at sea in full colour. It is all hand painted plus has the ships name shown on the scroll and the item is dated circa 1919-23. It is a very good condition piece and a fantastic collectors item with the size approx 5" Long (13cm).

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- The Euripides was a 14,947 gross ton ship built in 1914 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast for the Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line. There was accommodation for 140-1st, 334-2nd and 750-3rd class passengers. Launched on 29th Jan.1914, she was the company's largest ship and made a "shake down" cruise in June with guests. Her maiden voyage from London to Brisbane started on 1st July and she arrived on 24th August.
