Twelve detailed appendices help to make this one of the most detailed accounts of an historic ship ever written (click on the picture to see an open viw of the book).

HISTORY -- Built to underline Victorian Britain's supremacy at sea, HMS Warrior was the world's first iron-hulled, armoured warship. In 1979 she was rescued from ignominy as an oil jetty in Milford Haven to become the subject of an ambitious restoration programme, and for the last twenty years has been open to the public at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The story of her revolutionary design, career history and the strange twists of fate that enabled her to survive into an age when her significance in naval architecture would be fully recognised, is described in detail together with the meticulous research that went into faithfully restoring every aspect of the ship.

HISTORY -- The Overseas Containers Limited (OCL) was a container shipping company formed by a consortium of British shipping companies. It is not to be confused with Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL). In the early days of containerisation considerable investment was still required in the necessary infrastructure to transport and handle shipping containers, and many shipping companies formed consortia to ease the financial burden. OCL was formed in 1969 by four British companies: British and Commonwealth Shipping, Furness Withy, P&O and the Ocean Steamship Company.
