HISTORY -- LD Lines is a French shipping company. It is predominantly a freight operator, with both deep-sea and ferry operations, but also operates some passenger services. Its ferry routes are on the English Channel and Mediterranean Sea. The company is a subsidiary of the Louis Dreyfus Group. Louis LD was just one of those vessels associated with the Louis Dreyfus Group Shipping Line.

HISTORY -- The RMS Queen Elizabeth was an ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line and was contracted to carry Royal Mail as the second half of a two-ship weekly express service between Southampton and New York City via Cherbourg.  At the time of construction in the mid-1930's by John Brown and Company in Clydebank, Scotland, she was known as Hull 552, but she was later named in honour of Queen Elizabeth, Queen Consort at the time of her launch on 27 September 1938, and in 1952 became the Queen Mother.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Esso began life as the Anglo American Oil Company in 1888. It was the first foreign affiliate of John D Rockefeller's US company the Standard Oil Trust. It had a head office at Bishopsgate, London, and a depot at Purfleet in Essex. The depot stored paraffin being shipped from New York for use in lamps throughout England.

DESCRIPTION -- B/W photograph of the P&O-Orient Line vessel The Orcades. The photograph is taken from our collection of over 2000 shipping photographs and it is in a very good condition and protected in a plastic wallet.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- RMS Orcades (later SS Orcades) was built Vickers-Armstrong Shipbuilding, in Barrow-in-Furness in Yard 950. She was launched on October 14, 1947 and completed November 14, 19 48. Orcades replaced her predecessor, Orcades II, which had sunk during the war when she was only five years old. Orcades, the first ship built for Orient Lines after the war, shared her hull with the Peninsular Lines Himalaya, but her superstructure was different with her having a new look with her bridge located amidships crowned with a tripod mast and a upright funnel sitting high directly aft of the mast.

HISTORY -- The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, which is usually known as P&O, is a British shipping and logistics company which dated from the early 19th century. Following its sale in March 2006 to Dubai Ports World for 3.9 billion, it became a subsidiary of DP World; however, the P&O brand has been retained. The company was headquartered in London, in the United Kingdom; it was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
