UNUSED CALENDAR FROM THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE CANBERRA

DESCRIPTION -- From the famous P&O Line vessel the SS Canberra this is an unused and in excellent condition calenda from the last season voyage and shows on it some great pictures and details of the great vessel.

CONDITION -- Unused

HISTORY -- The SS Canberra was an ocean liner, which later operated on cruises, in the P&O fleet from 1961 to 1997. She was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland at a cost of £ 17 million. The ship was named on 17 March 1958, after the federal capital of Australia, Canberra.

VERY RARE FIND OF PASSENGER LIST FROM THE P&O LINE VESSEL SS MONGOLIA DATED 1935

DESCRIPTION -- From the P&O Line vessel the SS Mongolia this is a passenger list from a cruise dated 29th November to 5th December 1935 and is in a very good condition and is a very rare find.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The SS Mongolia was a 13,369-ton passenger-and-cargo liner originally built for Pacific Mail Steamship Company in 1904. She later sailed as USS Mongolia (ID-1615) for the U.S. Navy, as SS President Fillmore for the Dollar Line and as SS Panamanian for Cia Transatlantica Centroamericano.

VERY EARLY STYLE AS USED ONBOARD GREEN MARBLE ASHTRAY FROM THE P&O LINE

DESCRIPTION -- A very early item from the P&O Line which is one of their original as used onboard marble style ashtrays which were a popular use on cruises during the first part of the 1900's, which is in a very good condition and a rare find these days and not likely to find another one too soon.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The P&O Line first introduced passenger services in 1844, with a leisure cruise departing from Southampton to the Mediterranean. These voyages were the first of their kind and the forerunner of modern cruise holidays. The company later introduced round trips to destinations such as Alexandria and Constantinople and underwent rapid expansion in the later half of the 19th century, with its ships becoming larger and more luxurious.The RMS Queen Elizabeth was an ocean liner operated by Cunard Line. With Queen Mary she provided weekly luxury liner service between Southampton in the United Kingdom and New York City in the United States, via Cherbourg in France.

AN EXCELLENT CONDITION AS USED IN SERVICE BUTTER DISH FROM THE ORSOVA FROM THE P&O LINE

DESCRIPTION -- Superb as used in service butter dish from the P&O LIne vessel the SS Orsova and is dated circa 1960's and is in an excellent condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The SS Orsova, a 1503-passenger ocean liner, was built by Vickers Armstrong Shipbuilders Ltd. of Barrow-in-Furness, England, in 1954 for the Orient Steam Navigation Company for UK to Australia services via the Suez Canal, the voyage taking four weeks.  After 1955, the return trip was eastward via Auckland, Suva, Honolulu, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Panama, Trinidad and Cherbourg.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Canberra was the first modern liner, with engines located after to increase passenger space, and many other innovations. She personified the best in design of her era, having an extremely elegant profile. By carrying emigrants on the ten pound assisted passages to Australia, she provided many happy memories for them, as she also did for the many who sailed aboard her in her later incarnation as a cruise ship. Canberra was the ship that began the affordable cruise industry in England.

VERY RARE FIND P&O LINE ORIENTAL COMPANY MUG

DESCRIPTION -- From the P&O Line and dating from the 1960's this is a rare to find oriental souvenir mug which is in a very good condition and a very rare and unusual find.

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- An interesting fact about the P&O Line (formerly the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company) – it was a British shipping and logistics company dating from the early 19th century. Formerly a public company, it was sold to DP World in March 2006 for £3.9 billion. DP World currently operate three P&O branded businesses, P&O Ferries, P&O Maritime and P&O Heritage.
