METAL PIECE FROM THE PADDLE STEAMER THE PS WAVERLEY AFTER HER REFIT IN 1960

DESCRIPTION -- From a very famous old vessel and paddle steamer the PS Waverley, this is a metal piece from the refit to the ship in 1960.  The part is from the paddle float and bush and is inscribed on the back (click on the picture to see the other side).

HISTORY
-- PS Waverleyis the last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973. Bought by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society (PSPS), she has been restored to her 1947 appearance and now operates passenger excursions around the British coast.  Since 2003 Waverleyhas been listed in the National Historic Fleet by National Historic Ships UK as "a vessel of pre-eminent national importance".

PAPERWEIGHT SOUVENIR FROM THE MANCHESTER LINERS LTD SHIPPING COMPANY

DESCRIPTION -- This Paperweight souvenir from the Manchester Liners Ltd shipping line which is from the SS Manchester Regiment.  It is a glass paperweight showing on the front the vessel and name and is in a very good condition with the size being 4"(10cm) x 3" (7.5cm).

CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- Manchester Liners was a cargo and passenger shipping company founded in 1898, based in Manchester, England. The line pioneered the regular passage of ocean-going vessels along the Manchester Ship Canal. Its main sphere of operation was the transatlantic shipping trade, but the company also operated services to the Mediterranean. All of the line's vessels were registered in the Port of Manchester, and many were lost to enemy action during the First and Second World Wars.

SOUVENIR DISH FROM THE SS NEVASA

DESCRIPTION -- From the British India Steam Navigation Company vessel the SS Nevasa this is a souvenir dish showing a ship’s ports of call and it is in an excellent condition with the size being 4½"(12cm) and dates from the 1960’s.

HISTORY
-- The SS Nevasawas owned by the British India Steam Navigation Company and was 20,527 tons. New features of the ship included stabilisers to reduce rolling in rough seas. The Nevasa had the capacity to accommodate 500 officers and their families and 1,000 NCOs and men on the troop deck. The ship was used to transport troops during the Suez Crisis in 1956.

SUPERB SOUVENIR TRAY FROM THE VESSEL THE VISTAFJORD SHOWING PORTS OF CALL AND DATE

DESCRIPTION -- This is a souvenir tray dish showing the ports of call and date for a cruise aboard the Vistafjord and is in an excellent condition.  Priced at £7 each there are several to choose from as follows:

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY
--The ship Vistafjord was a cruise ship that was last operated by Saga Cruises and renamed MS Saga Ruby. She was built as the combined ocean liner/cruise ship Vistafjord in 1973 by Swan Hunter Shipbuilders in the United Kingdom for the Norwegian America Line. In 1983 she was sold to Cunard Line, retaining her original name until 1999 when she was renamed Caronia. In 2004 she was sold to Saga and sailed as Saga Ruby until sold in 2014 for use as a floating hotel and renamed Oasia.  This never came to fruition. Her owners went bankrupt and in April 2017 she arrived at Alang for dismantlement

HISTORY
-- Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) (North German Lloyd) was a German shipping company. It was founded by Hermann Henrich Meier and Eduard Crüsemann in Bremen on 20 February 1857. It developed into one of the most important German shipping companies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was instrumental in the economic development of Bremen and Bremerhaven. On 1 September 1970, the company merged with Hamburg America Line (HAPAG) to form Hapag-Lloyd AG.

HISTORY
-- CP Ships was a large Canadian shipping company established in the 19th century. From the late 1880s until after World War II, the company was Canada's largest operator of Atlantic and Pacific steamships. Many immigrants travelled on CP ships from Europe to Canada. The sinking of the steamship RMS Empress of Ireland was the largest maritime disaster in Canadian history. The company provided Canadian Merchant Navy vessels in World Wars I and II.

DESCRIPTION -- From the 1930's this is a salt pot souvenir from the Bibby Line vessel the SS Gloucestershire.  It shows on the front the name and company flag and is in a very good condition, with the size being 2" (8cm) high.

-- Bibby Line is a UK company concerned with shipping and marine operations.  Its parent company, Bibby Line Group Limited, can be traced back to the shipbroking partnership of Bibby & Hall, which was founded in 1801. The company along with all the group companies such as Bibby Ship Management is based in Liverpool (click on the picture for a close up of the item).

HISTORY -- The Ben Line or Ben Line Steamers, Limited was a Scottish shipping company based in Leith, Scotland which pioneered the Far East Europe trade. A private company, it was largely owned by members of the Thomson family from Leith and the Mitchell family from Alloa.
