HISTORY -- Canberra was the first modern liner, with engines located after to increase passenger space, and many other innovations. She personified the best in design of her era, having an extremely elegant profile. By carrying emigrants on the ten pound assisted passages to Australia, she provided many happy memories for them, as she also did for the many who sailed aboard her in her later incarnation as a cruise ship. Canberra was the ship that began the affordable cruise industry in England.
