EARLY DOUBLE SIDED PRINT OF THE QUEEN ELIZABETH

DESCRIPTION -- Early print of the famous old vessel of the sea The Queen Elizabeth and is an unusual print as it is a double-sided item with a print of a Whaling Factory Ship on the reverse. The print of The Queen Elizabeth shows the vessel at Southampton dock and is in a great condition.

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- The Queen Elizabeth was the second of the two super liners which Cunard had built for the New York service. After lengthy negotiations between Sir Percy Bates, chairman of Cunard, and the Government a formal contract for what was known as job 535 was signed on 6 October 1936. The Treasury agreed to advance 5 million to Cunard and tenders went out for the contract. The contract went to John Brown & Co, builders of the Queen Mary.

COLOUR PRINT OF THE GERMAN IMPERIAL BATTLESHIP 'ZAHRINGEW' BUILT 1901

PAIR OF ORIGINAL OLD PRINTS FROM THE BEN LINE SHIPPING COMPANY

DESCRIPTION -- Pair of nice old original prints from the Ben Line Shipping Company. They are both in a good condition and show fantastic colour in each. The prints are both ready for framing if required, and the size of each is 19" x 12" (48cm x 32cm). They are as follows:

  • Bengloe of 1920

CONDITION -- Good

HISTORY -- The Ben Line originated with the partnership of William and Alexander Thomson who went into the shipping business in 1839. They started with sailing ships and imported marble from Italy and took coal to Canada returning with timber. From 1859 the company operated routes to Singapore, China and Japan and this became its major source of business. New routes were established to the Baltic and the Canadian trade had run down by the mid-1880's.

SET OF FOUR SUPERB SEPIA S.WYLLIE PRINTS PRE 1900

DESCRIPTION -- Superb set of four original old S. Wyllie prints, which have a nice sepia type colouring of four famous old ships and are in good condition and are ready for framing with the size of the prints being 6" (15cm) x 8" (20cm). The prints are as follows:

PAIR OF SUPERB COLOUR PRINTS BY J. McCONNOCHIET

DESCRIPTION -- Pair of superb full colour prints by J. Mcconnochiet. As can be seen from the picture, both of these prints are cardboard framed and are ready for further framing. The prints show excellent colours and would look great as wall hanging items. These items are in a mint condition and the size is 9" x 11" (23cm x 28cm) and without cardboard frame the size is 6.5" x 8.5" (16.5cm x 21.5cm). The vessels are as follows:

PRINT OF THE FORESTS LIFE BOAT YARD IN LONDON, ENGLAND

DESCRIPTION -- Superb mounted print of the Forests Lifeboat building yard, which was to be found at Limehouse, London, England. The whole item has been very nicely hand coloured and is dated 17th November 1860 with the size as 15" x 12" (38cm x 30cm) and the size of the picture without frame is 9" x 6" (23cm x 15cm). As seen from the picture, this item is a good condition piece for something so old.
