DESCRIPTION -- Full colour display plate of the old ship the Flying Cloud built in 1851 in Boston USA and was one of the fastest vessels ever launched at the time. It is in an excellent condition and is 8" (20cm) wide and produced by A.J. Heritage.

HISTORY -- Flying Cloud was a clipper ship that set the world's sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco, 89 days 8 hours. The ship held this record for over 130 years, from 1854 to 1989. Flying Cloud was the most famous of the clippers built by Donald McKay. She was known for her extremely close race with Hornet in 1853; for having a woman navigator, Eleanor Creesy, wife of Josiah Perkins Creesy who skippered Flying Cloud on two record-setting voyages from New York to San Francisco; and for sailing in the Australia and timber trades.

DESCRIPTION -- Superb set of four souvenir china dishes from the Hamburg America Line which are 4" (10cm) wide with one dish that has very slight damage to the edge (see picture).

HISTORY -- The Hamburg America Line was a transatlantic shipping enterprise established in Hamburg, Germany, in 1847. It soon developed into the largest German, and at times the world's largest, shipping company, serving the market created by the German immigration to the United States and later immigration from Eastern Europe. On September 1, 1970, after 123 years of independent existence, HAPAG merged with the Bremen-based North German Lloyd to form Hapag-Lloyd AG.

DESCRIPTION -- Superb item and is a china tankard from the Norddeutscher Lloyd (North German Lloyd shipping company). It shows on the front the company crest and is in an excellent condition and dates from the 1960's with the size being 5" (13cm) high (click on the picture to see a close up of the design on the front).

HISTORY -- Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) (North German Lloyd) was a German shipping company. It was founded by Hermann Henrich Meier and Eduard Crasemann in Bremen on 20 February 1857. It developed into one of the most important German shipping companies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was instrumental in the economic development of Bremen and Bremerhaven. On 1 September 1970, the company merged with Hamburg America Line (HAPAG) to form Hapag-Lloyd AG.

HISTORY -- TS Royalist is the name of two vessels. The original was a brig launched in 1971 and owned and operated as a sail training ship by the Marine Society & Sea Cadets of the United Kingdom. At the end of her service she was replaced by a new vessel bearing the same name.

DESCRIPTION -- Unusual design china mug from the US battleship the USS Alabama which is made of a plastic type material.

CONDITION -- Very Good
HISTORY -- USS Alabama (BB-60), a South Dakota-class battleship, was the sixth ship of the United States Navy named after the US state of Alabama. Alabama was commissioned in 1942 and served in World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Alabama was decommissioned on 9 January 1947 and placed in the reserve fleet in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Bremerton, Washington. In 1964, Alabama was towed to Mobile Bay and opened as a museum ship the following year. The ship was added to the National Historic Landmark registry in 1986.
