SHIPS CRUISE EMBARCATION DETAILS FROM FRENCH LINE VESSELS DATED 1964

DESCRIPTION -- Ships cruise Embarkation details from the French Line shipping company which covers trips from Southampton to New York and The West Indies. CONDITION -- Very Good

HISTORY -- The Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (shortened to "CIE. GLE. TRANSATLANTIQUE", or CGT, and commonly named "Transat"), known overseas as the French Line, was a shipping company established in 1861 as an attempt to revive the French merchant marine, the poor state of which was painfully highlighted during the Crimean War of 1856.

FULL COLOUR PULLOUT BOOKLET FROM THE FRENCH LINE VESSEL THE ANTILLES

DESCRIPTION -- From the French Line vessel The SS Antilles this is a really fabulous large size pullout booklet, as will be seen from the pullout picture and is in a really fantastic collectable condition. The booklet is 12" x 9" (32cm x 24cm) but a massive size when fully opened (click on the picture to view the open booklet).

CONDITION -- Excellent

HISTORY -- Built for the French Line, the Antilles was a near-sister to the SS Flandre of 1952. Her construction was completed and her maiden voyage made in 1953. She differed from her sister mainly because she was painted in white. She was placed on West Indies cruise service in the 1960's.

DESCRIPTION -- Early edition cruise line shipping booklet from the very collectable French Line. The booklet is promoting cruise voyages between Southampton, England and the West Indies and dates circa mid 20th century. This would have been a common cabin item in those early days.

LARGE CHEESE LABEL MADE FOR THE SS ILE DE FRANCE

DESCRIPTION -- Large size cheese label made especially for The French Line vessel The SS Ile De France. It is in an as new mint condition and is a genuine item from this vessel.

CONDITION -- Mint/Excellent

HISTORY -- The SS Ile de France was a French ocean liner built in Saint-Nazaire, France for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. The ship was the first major ocean liner built after the conclusion of World War I and was the first liner ever to be decorated entirely with designs associated with the Art Deco style. It was neither the largest ship nor the fastest ship, but was considered the most beautifully decorated ship built by the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT, known also as the "French Line") until the arrival of The Normandie.

SUPERB ORIGINAL GREAT CONDITION WARDROOM PLAQUE

DESCRIPTION -- Original wardroom plaque which is in a great condition and is 7" (19cm) wide and from the French ship 'De Grasse'. It shows an unusual lion logo upon the front and also reads on FREGATE DE GRASSE at the top. The item appears to be superbly carved and is an old item, which is difficult to date.
