AN ALMOST 200 YEAR OLD SHIPWRECKED MEDICINE BOTTLE |

|
This item is a very rare medicine bottle found from a very famous shipwreck. It was recovered from the ship HMS Anson, which was sunk on the 28th December 1807.
HMS Anson was a naval frigate and set sail for homeport in a gale. The ship misjudged their position and believing them to be clear of dangerous waters, was driven onto the sand at Loe Bar, Mount’s Bay. It is one on only five recovered and is in a very good condition.
It was protected by being inside the ship’s medicine chest, which subsequently was buried deep in the sand. Although the chest rotted away sufficient remained to protect the bottles. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the bottle.
