FANTASTIC LARGE SIZE COLOUR PHOTO OF THE CUNARD VESSEL QE2 |

|
This item is a full size colour photograph of the famous Cunard Line vessel The Queen Elizabeth II otherwise known as the QE2. It shows the vessel at sea in all her glory and the size is 16" x 12" (41cm x 30cm). This unusual large size photograph is in an excellent condition.
RMS Queen Elizabeth 2, often referred to simply as the 'QE2', is a former Cunard ocean liner, now owned by Nakheel (a division of Dubai World). She was designed to primarily run a transatlantic service from Southampton, England, to New York, USA, and was named after the earlier Cunard liner RMS Queen Elizabeth (see Name section), and served as the flagship of the line from 1969 until succeeded by RMS Queen Mary 2 in 2004. Built in Clydebank, Scotland, she was considered the last of the great transatlantic ocean liners built for over four decades before the construction of the QM2.
Before she was refitted with a diesel power plant in 1986/87, QE2 was also the last oil fired passenger steamship to cross the Atlantic in scheduled liner service. During almost forty years of service, the QE2 undertook regular world cruises and latterly operated predominantly as a cruise ship, sailing out of Southampton, England. QE2 had no identical sister ship or running mate and never ran a year round weekly transatlantic express service to New York. QE2 did, however, continue the Cunard tradition of regular scheduled transatlantic crossings every year of her service life.

RMS Queen Mary is a retired ocean liner that sailed the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for the Cunard Line (then Cunard-White Star when the vessel entered service). Built by John Brown and Company, Clydebank, Scotland, she was designed to be the first of Cunard's planned two-ship weekly express service from Southampton to Cherbourg to New York, in answer to the mainland European superliners of the late 1920s and early 1930s. After their release from World War II troop transport duties, Queen Mary and her running mate RMS Queen Elizabeth commenced this two-ship service and continued it for two decades until Queen Mary's retirement in 1967.
The ship is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is permanently berthed in Long Beach, California serving as a museum ship and hotel. The Queen Mary celebrated the 70th anniversary of her launch in both Clydebank and Long Beach during 2004, and the 70th anniversary of her maiden voyage in 2006. She was the flagship of the Cunard Line from 1936 until 1945 when she was replaced in this role by the Queen Elizabeth.

A DISPLAY PLATE OF THE FAMOUS VESSEL THE SS AQUITANIA |

|
This is a display item from the famous Cunard liner the Aquitania. It is a decorative plate which is 10½" (27cm) wide and produced in a smokey brown colour. The plate shows the vessel in the centre and is a commemorative piece. The plate is in a fantastic condition and a great display item. Click on the picture for a closer look at the item.
RMS Aquitania was a Cunard Line ocean liner built by John Brown & Company in Clydebank, Scotland. She was launched on 21 April 1913 and sailed on her maiden voyage to New York on 30 May 1914. Aquitania was the third in Cunard Line's "grand trio" of express liners, preceded by the RMS Mauretania and RMS Lusitania, and was the last surviving four funneled ocean liner. Widely considered one of the most attractive ships of her time, Aquitania earned the nickname "Ship Beautiful". This despite criticism of her looks; having too many cowl ventilators and the forward funnel being as close to her bridge as it was is an interesting concept.
In her 36 years of service, Aquitania survived military duty in both world wars and was returned to passenger service after each war. Aquitania's record for the longest service career of any 20th century express liner stood until 2004, when the Queen Elizabeth 2 (ultimate career service of 40 years) became the longest-serving liner.

|
This item is an original advert for the Cunard Line Shipping Company. The size of the poster is 23" (60cm) x 16½" (42cm) and is in a great condition. It advertises cruise sailings throughout Europe and America.
Cunard Line is an American owned, British operated shipping company. It has been a leading operator of passenger ships on the North Atlantic for over a century. In 1839, Canadian-born Samuel Cunard was awarded the first British transatlantic steamship mail contract, and the next year formed the British and North American Royal Mail Steam-Packet Company to operate the line's four pioneer paddle steamers on the Liverpool–Halifax–Boston route.
For most of the next 30 years, Cunard held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic voyage. However, in the 1870s Cunard fell behind its rivals, the White Star Line and the Inman Line. To meet this competition, in 1879 the firm was reorganized as Cunard Steamship Company, Ltd to raise capital.

|
This is a souvenir circular silver dish from the vessel The Cunard Countess of the Cunard Line. It is approx. 4" (10cm) in size and has a felt back to it. It is in a great condition and is an original item from the vessel.
Launched by Burmeister & Wain in Copenhagen in 1974, Cunard Countess was moved to La Spezia for fitting out, entering service with Cunard Line in August 1976. Her sistership was The Cunard Princess. In 1982/83 she was used as a troop ship during the Falklands conflict. Cunard Countess was sold to Royal Olympic in 1997 becoming the Olympic Countess (later Olympia Countess). Following the collapse of Royal Olympia in 2004, Olympia Countess was bought by Majestic International Cruises who renamed her.

She was planned to operate 3- and 4-day cruises out of Piraeus in 2007 as Ocean Countess for subsidiary Monarch Cruises, on the schedule originally advertised for Ocean Monarch. However, she was chartered for 2007 to Louis Hellenic Cruise Lines and renamed Ruby, to replace the lost Sea Diamond. Ocean Monarch was reactivated in her place. From 2010 operated for Cruise & Maritime Voyages in the UK market.

A CIGARETTE CASE SOUVENIR FROM THE VESSEL RMS SYTHIA |

|
This item is from the old vessel the RMS Sythia. It is a silver-plated cigarette case and dates from the 1920’s/30’s. It shows on the front the crest of the vessel and a superb decorative scroll pattern (click on the picture to see a close up view of the crest and pattern). The item is generally in a good condition and the size of the cigarette case is 3½" (9cm) x 2½" (6cm).
Following heavy losses during the First World War, the Cunard Line embarked on an ambitious building programme. They decided to build "intermediate", 19,000-tonne ships, rather than the massive liners they had previously employed. The Scythia was the first ship in this new fleet, and construction began in 1919. The Scythia was built for the services between Liverpool and Queenstown in Britain to New York and Boston, in the United States. A luxury liner designed to appeal to American tourists, in the mid-1920s, she began sailing from New York to the Mediterranean.
