The year 2005 celebrates the 200th anniversary of the great battle known as The Battle of Trafalgar. This item is one of many fabulous pieces available from TRAVELLERS IN TIME celebrating that 200th anniversary. Some of the pieces are directly linked to the Napoleonic period or to the famous flagship of Lord Horatio Nelson himself ‘HMS VICTORY’. Some other pieces listed are indirectly linked as souvenir items of Lord Nelson, the battle, his ship or the antiquities of the time.

This item is a collection of small bone pieces, which have been handmade into model items by an old seafarer. They are a collection of hair/knitting needles, which were made while on a long journey at sea by French prisoners of war.

The prisoners made many items such as this from bone fragments while on board the prison ships, and this collection of 3 bone pieces are a superb example of their craft work.

The hair/knitting needles have been made in 3 sizes and thicknesses - long, medium and large. They are all in a good condition and original pieces from the Napoleonic period.

This particular item is a section of bone, which has been made into two model items by an old seafarer. It is a pair of superbly handmade hook bodkins, which were made while on a long journey at sea by French prisoners of war.

The prisoners made many items such as this from bone fragments while on board the prison ships, and these two items are a superb example of the period.

The pair of hook bodkins are in good condition, with the size of them being 5" (13cm) long and original from the Napoleonic period.

The prisoners made many items such as this from bone fragments while on board the prison ships, and this item is a superb example of their skilled craftwork. The spoon has been cleverly hand carved and is in a fantastic condition for an old piece.

This mustard/salt spoon is 3¾" (9.5cm) long and is an original piece from the Napoleonic period.
